It was ok...but you didn't miss much. I've read that it was supposedly the next year's episodes - had it not been cancelled. All I will say is quality kind of suffered.

My guess is:

1) Someone outside their apartments/homes used a drone to kill them. 2) Could be some kind of laser, mazer. 3) Perhaps neurological agent that was covered up by a drone explosion.
