lol
If you want to get immersed in an enjoyable science fiction story, start off with Ringworld by Larry Niven. (1970)
That one book, Ringworld, spawned 3 sequels years later due to demand. It also opened up "Known Space" to some of the best sci-fi authors alive (and dead) since then. The Man-Kzin Wars alone has produced 14 books of short stories (and some really good long ones) by great names in the field.
It culminates in the last 4 books (2014... I think was the last one) about the Puppeteer home worlds involving two of the four main characters from the original Ringworld book.
I highly recommend.
