You have got to be fucking kidding me.

Some company (electricity provider) charged someone $11k during a major snowstorm because of "surge pricing".

When I move I am going to have a minimum of 3 ways to generate my own power and will be trying to run off it as often as possible. Can you imagine getting a fucking $11k power bill because you don't want to freeze to death?

I used to work in the power industry. The reason Texas had this kind of pricing problem is because some time back the citizens of Texas voted for deregulation of the power industry. This deregulated system separated power producers from power distributors and power retailers. Gone are the days of monolithic power generators, distributors and retailers in the Texas grid (which btw Texas does have their own grid). Texas power generation companies cannot own any power transmission or distribution assets. Transmission and distribution companies cannot own power generation assets. Distribution companies can own power retailer assets and services, but anyone with $150K and a registered business in Texas can become a power retailer.

These power retailers ranging from giant corporations to small-time retailers can resell power at any price they wish to. All power retailers go to auction to buy units of power (by the megawatt/hour) to resell to their customers. Auctions are held daily. Buying more units of power enables large retailers to keep prices low. Small retailer can get decent deals and often attract customers with the low pricing. During difficult situations like the Texas freeze, the power auction went high due to excess demand and reduced supply. The large retailers were able to pay higher prices for energy and not pass the costs on to their customers to avoid customers switching to other providers. The small retailers, well...

The auction prices sky rocketed and the little guys had to pay massive amounts for limited units of power just to keep their service alive. They didn't have the resources to absorb the losses so they had to pass the impact onto their customers. Their promises of cheaper energy could not be kept and they were inexperienced with such a thing. They had to send the auction losses to their customers which resulted in companies like Griddy issuing $11K power bills. The customers didn't read the fine print that said they would not be protected by auction pricing risks and the bills were legitimate and legal. Those customers were lured in by low energy bills when times were good but faced huge losses when times were bad. It will happen again.

Ultimately the whole power industry is built on robbing Peter paying Paul. It's become a massive jew money game, but it also started that way thanks to fucking Edison and Westinghouse. I suspect that this will only get worse since the industry pushed (((smart meters))) into homes and businesses so they could manipulate power prices. No your smart meter isn't going to kill you with death beams and 5G radiation. It's going to killl you the way jews like to kill you- death by 1000 paper cuts. It's going to rob you nickel by nickel, dime by dime. Texas isn't alone in this. It will happen everywhere at some point. And don't be surprised when your backup and off-grid systems are made illegal and/or require the grid and smart meters and have massive regulation on what you can use and how and when.

So, the short version is that the deregulation allowed the creation of middle men to fuck everyone without providing anything useful at all while filling their pockets. Or at least that seems to be how it reads.

That's pretty much what it boils down to. jews would also be an acceptable answer.

On another note, yeah. My power bill has gone up a TON without me changing anything about how we live. If anything I have made the house more energy efficient and it still costs more. Its not even remotely close to what inflation would bump the bill by. I can not wait to get out of this commie shithole so I can work on my own generation and storage systems...

Until they make that illegal too. (Something, something, cold dead hands).

No price? Cool! I love free things!

But that's the nigger thing to do

Precisely.
