Don't forget the base of a wind turbine has hundreds of tons of concrete (somewhere in the vicinity of 575 metric tons for a 2MW turbine) in the base. Concrete requires an enormous amount of energy to produce and this base is almost never able to be re-used, as the replacement turbines are usually larger, requiring even more substantial footings.
