Family destruction effort has been around for quite a while it seems. This whole 'he knows if you were good or bad' is so stupid. Parents love their kids, & (the clueless parents) will spoil them with gifts regardless of the child's behavior. Kid get used to free gibs. Smart parents will still have the tendency to spoil their kids, but will at least make an effort to make the kid think he had to do something to get the gift. Santa is for failed parents who lost control of their kids so that they don't listen to the parents anymore, & now need a way to coerce them into behaving.
