Yep. If you travel a lot you will experience this at some point and learn about the reservation system. Hotels do not care about overbooking because some people dont show so they bill them as no-shows. My favorite is when they bill you as a no-show AND sell your room. I tell people that travel, Call the hotel about 6 pm and confirm that you are still coming. State to assign you a room.
