Took me 5 seconds to get the answer.
This issue occurs because the form submission on the website is generating a link that your Android system believes should be opened in the Google Maps app rather than inside the browser. This is often caused by an automatic "open supported links" setting or a malicious/incorrectly coded link on the webpage.
Here are the steps to fix this, ordered from most likely to least likely:
Disable "Open Supported Links" for Google Maps This is the most common solution. It tells Android not to automatically switch to the Maps app when a map-related link is triggered. Go to your phone’s Settings. Tap Apps. Find and tap on Maps (Google Maps). Tap on Open by default or Set as default. Toggle off Open supported links or select "Don't open in this app".
Disable "Open Links in Apps" in Samsung Internet You can force Samsung Internet to handle all links internally. Open Samsung Internet. Tap the Menu (three lines in the bottom right). Tap Settings -> Useful features. Toggle off Open links in apps.
Clear Google Maps App Defaults If you previously selected "Always" to open links in Maps, you need to reset that behavior. Go to Settings > Apps > Maps. Tap Open by default. Tap Clear defaults.
Glad it took you 5 seconds, probably would have taken me 5 hours! :)
As far as 1 & 3, the only option in Maps that I have is open supported links, and that setting was already off.
For 2 on Samsung Internet, there's no 3 lines at bottom right and no 'useful features' anywhere that could find. I'm on a tablet not a phone, so maybe that's it.
I'm flummoxed at this point.
Oh shit, just got a call! Had to put SpouseAnon in nursing home because of dementia and now they're calling because the dialysis center wants me to sit for the 4 hours of dialysis because of agitation issues Tues, Thu & Sat. I already do transport on Sat since driver is off. Don't know if I can do tomorrow as I'm snowed in. Was so nice not to have to get up and go those two days! Now I have to be there 4+ hours 3 days a week is going to suck. Hope they have internet there!
I'll be back when I can to see what else I can do about this stupid opening maps issue. Thank you for all your time and trouble to help me, as this isn't the first time I've had problems and you've helped me. At least, I'm still logged in! ;)
Guess I better start shovelling, it's almost 12+inches, still snowing, and I'm a decrepit 66yo. :(
there's no 3 lines
I think it means an hamburger menu like the ones we have on Poal, top left, and right (on mobile).
To stop the Samsung Internet browser from automatically opening Google Maps on your tablet, go to Settings > Apps > Google Maps > Set as default and turn off "Open supported links". Alternatively, you can disable the "Allow app links" setting in the app details for Maps to prevent automatic redirects.
Key Solutions to Prevent Auto-Opening Maps:
Change App Link Settings (Most Effective): Navigate to your tablet's Settings > Apps. Find and select Maps. Tap on Open by default or Set as default. Toggle Open supported links off, or select "Don't open in this app".
Disable "Open Links in Other Apps" in Browser: Open Samsung Internet and go to Settings (three-line menu). Look for settings related to Useful features or similar, and toggle off Open links in other apps.
Clear Data for Maps: If the issue persists, go to Settings > Apps > Maps > Storage > Clear Data.
