4k would be Big Mike

Has anyone gotten 4k playback working in Brave (or any browser) on Linux Mint with a modern NVidia card and driver?

Problem? It "acts" like it's too slow to do 4k. "No can do, sir, I'm too slow." Really, it's "You're not running Winblows, so I'm not going to cooperate (the Nvidia driver)"

It's been a year since I spent a day trying to get that working, had no luck. If I remember right, just could not enable hardware video acceleration in any browser. Also tried MPV and it also could not handle 4K.

Have just been living without 4k. There is Winblows on the other partition on this machine, and it has no problems doing 4K.

Microshaft must think I'm going to bend over and spread cheeks for a few more pixels.

Edit: Just wasted another hour of my life on this. As of right now, it does not appear to be possible to have 4K playback on Brave browser in Linux Mint with Nvidia card. Have not found any method that includes all 3 of those criteria: Mint.Nvidia.Brave I'll have to undo everything I've tried, because now 1080 doesn't work anymore...

Thanks for sharing your issue, but you should post in /s/Linux instead (we can then discuss about it. I have Mint running in a VM and it plays 4K flawlessly).

Just going to say I made a mistake by even posting that comment.

I honestly started to make a post about this in the Linux sub. Didn't ignore this.

Realized I would have to post more details about my system than I'm actually comfortable doing. Really don't want to start a troubleshoot thread targeting my system. Probably needless fear, I know.

Sorry, I'm just going to have to drop it. Lesson learned. Will try to get better at keeping my mouth shut about these things and also not just commenting whatever is on my mind at any given time.

That's not a badge, but a tag.
