Apparently this is from California passing a law targeting uber and etc... for calling their workers contractors and paying them like shit. However, uber and etc got a law passed shortly after that specifically exempted them from the first law. At some point the DA for Los Angeles sued a bunch of big trucking companies for violating the new law, because they used independant owner-operators. The truckers sued back and won ultimately but the damage was already done. Now the ports are massively backed up, I'll bet a bunch of trucking companies decided to cut back their services too. I'll bet there are vax mandate issues too, probbly a bunch of truckers don't want to work in a force-vax environment.
