When a bureaucracy fears the people, it's doing it wrong. The more it fears the people, the more criminal it is. The Xiden cartel is doing it very wrong.
It should always fear the people; people need to have power over who governs them to ensure it remains fair.
In moderation, perhaps. But building walls and fences with armed guards, reflects paranoia.
I think the current admin knows the time is running out, and its petal to the metal. The entire northern states (Montana, Wyoming, Dakotas) are pretty much done with their shit now, and intentionally made laws to go against the federal govt( arresting ATF officers, no background checks on private sales, conceal carry permits rescinded, no sales tax)
