Fun fact: Nickelodeon, originally Pinwheel, was started at Time-Warner Columbus (Ohio) at the 5th Avenue Studios and cable head end. It premiered on the QUBE addressable delivery cable system from the 1970s, of which Columbus was the test market. The entire system was controlled by various DEC PDP computers, and, while not in operation, were still installed up into the 90s.
Damn this takes me back. Looking back Pinwheel looks like a welfare Sesame Street.
It kind of was, looking back on it. It was one of the shows that defined the channel, tho. A lot more wholesome than the crap they run now.
I grew up on Nickelodeon. I think most Gen Xers were. That and after school cartoons and Saturday morning cartoons...which are long gone and replaced with JewCo, LLC trash programming like Dr. Phil and Divorce Court.
