Back when Biden tried to ignore the Supreme Court and 'forgive' the loans, a neighbor of mine used the "*a rising tide lifts all boats*" talking point. I countered with, "How does paying for someone's "Gender Studies" degree elevate the overall populace? It's not like it does the country any good." Her counter was something like, "so you're OK with paying off certain loans?" Me: No. I'm addressing your statement, which I find faulty. Her: You are against forgiving any loans? Me: I paid mine. They can pay theirs. I'm not paying theirs, too. Her: Isn't it good for the government to help people struggling with debt? How does it not make the whole country better? Me: The government already pays for plenty of people's education. Her: So you're OK with that? Me: It's called the GI Bill. You serve, we help you pay for school. You don't just get to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a degree that gets you nothing. If you want us to pay for it, meet the qualifications. Her: We'll agree to disagree. Me: You're against requiring people asking for a handout to earn the money?
