To be fair, it's recommended to keep it to a minimum if you have non-mortgage debts. It's important to understand human psychology. Zero entertainment expense until XYZ financial goals are reached is financially optimal, but realistically most people will backslide until total financial disaster if they have zero short term rewards. Even if it's something as simple as $10/month to buy a book or get a gym membership so you can camp out on the treadmill while watching tv or streaming video.
That is true.
I was going for the angle that if you need a guide on money management and you have time for entertainment, you have time to better yourself or work overtime to relieve the stress.
