I get that. The approach to personal finance that increases your financial level to the point where you can buy $x without ever missing it tends to make you sufficiently frugal that you don't want to. Heck, I'd be horrified by the prospect of spending $1000 on dinner at an extraordinarily expensive restaurant. But if the same $1000 disappeared from my bank account? I doubt I'd ever notice it unless I saw the debit for -$1000 for Le Chez Ramsey or somesuch.
