"Unreadable" ? I mean, I agree he's gay for Trump, and he's clearly controlled opposition, but I haven't ever had any trouble reading his terrible comics.

The "political cartoon" genre has, historically, relied on labelling of this sort, because most people will miss the symbolism without it. That's more important than the punchline.
