Our phones have 2tb sd cards in them so small you can lose them if you drop it when handling it. Pretty wild.

But what kind of sucks is, outside of media files, programs don’t seem to care about being optimized for size anymore. Even the seemingly simple apps can be huge installs and continue to bloat once installed. Annoying.

In the early 1990s, a hefty program for PC (AutoCAD for instance) required 4 or 5 floppies for the installation set. Wasn't too long after that when companies started issuing CDs - a CD drive was then still a pricey add-on. DRM followed shortly thereafter.

I first used them 41 years ago (1983) with HP Microcontrollers (ithistory.org). I wrote the OS for a rack and stack test system we built "back in the day".

Fuck I think the windows 95 install came on like 15 floppies. It was a pain in the ass back in the day. Why do want to I remember it more fondly than actual recollection warrants?
