I didn't even know Skype had ads. The only time I ever had to use it was nearly 15 years ago and it had no ads back then. I guess I will continue to not use it and not give a shit.

I seem to remember trying skype once, but I think that was when ebay had it. That's been a long long time ago.

They are trying desperately to compete with Discord.

That's what Teams is for. Skype was always a bolt-on that MS bought from eBay and investment bankers after eBay bought it thinking that buyers and sellers want to talk to each other on a platform that requires no interaction to complete transactions.

The only time Skype wasn't a bastard child was those first few years when it was just a peer-to-peer voice call system with some extra features.
