That's some Mr. Wizard shit right there.

Pick me up a functioning o-scope, if you will. Two or more traces if possible.

Brand new Rigol 200MHz/2ch/FFT/math scope is $300. The old stuff is...old.

[–] 2 pts

Plot twist: the original price and the current price are the same because of inflation.

Some stuff, it's more. Not the HP test equipment tho, that stuff ran 5 digits in today's cash.

Right, but that's what I mean, 25 dollars could buy you a lot back then.

How much did you buy? Those are sweet prices!

A lot. Pictures coming shortly.

SpouseAnon would love this.

Will be posting more pictures soon.

I've got an oscilloscope that's smaller than a phone now. More functionality but damn, I'd still like to have one of those.

Problem with those old scopes is the CRTs are getting tired, the switches are getting worn, and every capacitor in the thing is leaky. You can get a brand new Rigol 200MHz/2ch with FFT analysis and math for $300.

Good prices

Awesome prices on most of the stuff. There were a few holdouts trying to unload no-value devices at high prices, but I think most vendors realize that most of this stuff isn't even hobbyist material anymore.

Such a bargain!

Mr Carlson's Lab would love to have them.

I saw a few flyers for that Carlsons channel laying about.

He's such a great piece of knowledge, I really like watching him describe things he's doing.

At those prices, it's not even worth renting floor space and carrying all that heavy shit.

A lot of the older stuff is losing value as newer devices come on the market that can run rings around the old stuff. 10 bills will outfit your test bench with equipment people from even the 1990s could only dream of. A big problem is the stuff is just old and worn out, and there are no new parts.

Even the giant Tektronix is said to be hanging on only because the government has to buy US made stuff. But at $300 for a good scope from Rigol vs. the exact same feature set from Tek @ 10,000...yeah.

I love all that old stuff, I used to have a bunch of it just looking cool on the shelf...but in practice I use a $20 multimeter for everything. It's not like I repair hi-fi equipment either, just guitars/cars/appliances etc. As you said, the new stuff blows the old stuff out of the water.

[–] 1 pt

damn dude. I can tell you, without a doubt, THAT is alot of old equipment..

[–] 1 pt

It is. Pictures on the way shortly, as soon as I can retrieve them from devices.

Fooking hell buy the lot for me. I saw someone who had some shit like this at a yard sale and they wanted 900 for an old oscope. They even had some old heathkit shit

$900 will get you a top of the line modern Chinesium scope that does everything except suck you off. Maybe one of those old GHz Tek monsters, but Negative on the $900...
