Awesome story. I love things like this. It's so much cooler than wasting away on Netflix, actually learning something, keeping history alive. One of my favorite books was The Soul of a new machine (en.m.wikipedia.org). It wasn't as much about technology, but the excitement and stress of building a huge project. Even though the technology has speeded far away, the human aspect of it still lingers on.

I recently learned there was a 16-bit version of the Z80 by Zilog called the Z800 (en.m.wikipedia.org). It didn't go very far.
