You rapidly get into fights against civil forfeit with that. Redefining a terms of a credit is easier, and will do the same thing without having the government step in to handle all of the assets that would be assumed.

People that are willing to rent to illegal aliens are the same type of people that will willingly abuse the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit. Take away one credit and they will just use another. And it doesn't stop them from renting to illegals they just don't get tax credits for it.

Let them fight. Doesn't affect anyone but the renter. And all the while they are fighting the courts they aren't renting to illegals and are wasting their money on court cases.

I agree that it's not a perfect solution, but you're probably going to get the original renters squatting while the courts and the former owner fight it out, and that could take years. Reform is needed from the ground up here.
