If we had a working government, they would lower tax rates to about 5%. I know you're laughing now, but there is no need for tax rates in the double digits except if you ask a politician. They will rationalize 100% tax rates.
Realize that income taxes did not even exist until 1913. Once that flood gate opened, the rates shot way up, with no end in sight.
