I have decided to stop with nicotine pouches. Nicotine sucks, it causes my energy to be lower and I can't run as fast (restricts blood flow) + higher resting heart rate. I have tried stopping cold turkey previously and it has never worked. Now I will use nicotine patches for 6 weeks, cutting away a 6th (of the/a patch) per week.

This time I've decided that I pretty much need all help I can get so I'm planning to make one post per week. I will update the text of weekly post daily to mark off each day of that week. Hold me accountable for fucking up faggots.

(Hopefully this post fits in this sub even though it's nicotine pouches and not cigarettes)

Plan:

15 jan to 21 jan: One whole nicotine patch

22 jan to 28 jan: 5 6ths of a nicotine patch

29 jan to 4 feb: 4 6ths of a nicotine patch

5 feb to 11 feb: 3 6ths of a nicotine patch

12 feb to 18 feb 2 6ths of a nicotine patch

19 feb to 25 feb 1 6ths of a nicotine patch

26 feb and onwards: o/

Log

15 jan: Survived. 16 jan: Survived. 17 jan: Survived. 18 jan: Survived. 19 jan: Survived. 20 jan: Survived. 21 jan: Survived.

I dipped for 18 years. Quit cold turkey two weeks ago. It's tough but when you want to, you just do it, no excuses. First week I avoided gas stations like the plague to avoid the temptation to buy a a can "for just one more pinch". Second week is really tough having to deal with the situations that would make me want a pinch. And the headaches. Those are mostly gone now. Driving is the hardest. Nothing like cruising down a back road with a fat lip and music blasting. Guess it's time for new experiences.

I wish you well and stick to your guns!

Thanks.

Quit cold turkey two weeks ago.

Nice. Hope it continues for many more weeks. Sounds like you have the situation under control.

"for just one more pinch"

yea, classic. That dumb voice in the head constantly trying to come up with lies and excuses. Maybe it'd be nice to be an NPC without an inner monologue after all.

It's still difficult but I finally wanted to quit so this time seems different than the other times I've half ass quit. I'll miss it but I'm going to go a year before I flirt with it again. I don't think you can be over an addiction if you cant pick it up and set it back down.

sound like playing with fire. impressive if you manage to completely control it though. I know a guy who takes exactly one nicotine pouch every year since he quit. It's his little tradition. I will take any risk myself, I would only become addicted again.

Best of luck with it, m8

I'm not quitting smoking anytime soon but I have 70 days no alcohol tomorrow. Good luck mate

Thanks. 70 days is no mean achievement. 18 days to 88. Make sure to celebrate.

I will pray for the Lord to give you strength brother. You can do this!

Wait... Are you cutting up the patches?

[–] 1 pt (edited )

Yes. Nicotine patches I buy come in 3 strengths. I have tried using those before but I think the steps are too big, going down a whole step causes too much withdrawal. So what I do is take the strongest patch and cut away small parts of it each week more and more.

Your will is all you need. Currently you are using it to buy patches. You are better than that.

Face addiction head on and you will prevail. And be stronger for it.

Use the addiction to strengthen your will. Use the cravings to strengthen your resolve. Recognize every time you do this you have won a battle and you will win the war.

The battle is not constant, it is isolated moments. Be strong at those moments and you will win every time. The war will be shorter and you will be stronger for it.

You are already doing this but you are not getting the benefit from it. Don't credit success to something else. It gives power away and extends the war.

Credit where credit is due! You fight this battle for your reasons. You are the strong one. You are the winner.

Congratulations.

PS. If you read this with negative thoughts snap the fuck outta that soldier, you have a war to win!

I like your attitude 👌. Thanks.

Good job. Thank you. I wish my husband had the self control to quit the nasty things too. He likes fags all up in his mouth too much tho I guess so whatever. Divorce rate is high for smokers/non smokers for a reason. I'm tired of the house smelling like shit. I just had to leave the room cuz he was making me nauseous with his fag sticks.

Thanks. On day 6, still using nicotine patches to ease abstinence for 5 more weeks. It's very hard to stop. I don't know how to encourage someone else to stop. I hope he stops. Nicotine sucks.

When I quit my 2 pack a day habit cold turkey, I felt like shit for 3-4 months. One morning I woke up feeling better than I ever had and thought "no fuckin way I'll ever go back to smoking".

Get past that 4-6 month mark, you will have zero desire to smoke ever again.

Good job. Yikes I hope I'll get through it quicker though I may be unrealistic.

I really hope I will get to a point like that. I'm sprinting on the treadmill 3 times a week. Hopefully I see my speed going up so I can see objectively how nicotine has damaged me to give me extra motivation.

Gah. Day 3. Abstinence and temptations kicking in since yesterday after noon.

Usually the first 3-4 days are the worst, so I'm looking forward to friday even more than usual.

Started to feel sick a few days ago, not sure if I am actually sick if it's from abstinence. Not the best week. Hoping the worst of it will be over soon.

The sun is shining for once. Though it only makes me angry when it shines in my face. This is what nicotine abstinence does to me.
