Solar, as in photo-voltaic or equivalent power generation is a niche power production technology that has some limited use cases in low power intermittent and remote environments. Such as farm bore/water pumps for stock water, pottering remote monitoring equipment, etc.
In a large grid system, any more than a small percentage of intermittent supply causes more problems than it solves.

Agreed, that is what make this technology so exciting. It is not photo voltaic tech. If it provides nearly the 1000X power output it will be a game changer. Even if it is a quarter of that really.
