The power company should pay since SWAT was acting on their behalf. This dystopian shit is crazy.

They weren't there to collect for the power company. They were enforcing a county law which states a building must have electric. Although that could be the same as working for the power company, it could be that the power company lobbied to have that law on the books in the first place.

It is crazy and there is no repercussions for the police. No one gets disciplined, the fine is paid by the tax payers, so they don't care.

750k of tax payer money.

SWAT breaking into a house and killing the family's dog for some gas/electricity shit. This could be the opening scene of a dystopian future movie.

so fucking weird, who makes these decisions, how do they come to the conclusion this is needed

There are no repercussions for the police. They want to justify having all this equipment and gear.

No one gets disciplined, the fine is paid by the tax payers, so they don't care. No wonder these stories keep popping up.

pretty easily solved I'd think - remember how many times we have seen State-level executive/legislative branch slap down City-level actions? At least that happens in TX a lot
