A British unit were marching through Somerville Massachusetts and townspeople hid and picked them off guerilla style. One of the redcoats was buried in a soldier's grave nearby. Generations later his body was found amongst colonials and they tried to return him to England but his family line had died out and there was no one to claim him. He's still there in Massachusetts but his grave has been paved over for a supermarket parking lot.

By the time they reburied him there wasn't much left. I think his grave was fucked with in the years after the Revolution because he was seen as an enemy invading their homeland. When they tried to repatriate him it was much much later, probably about the 1950s or 60s and there wasn't much left of him. I think they moved some graves but they definitely paved over a bunch of bodies.
And no one knows about this. It's a tiny little spot (about 1/16th acre) left over from the mass grave with cheap markers. The only reason I know about it is I did some historical shit for the area years ago. I know there is some British medal marking or something signifying his grave at least.
edit: I just checked and they have since developed it into an actual graveyard. I'm sure he at least has a stone. When I was there it was just a vacant lot with some markers stuck in the ground.
