I got married at the base of that mountain.
You must have awesome wedding photos!
That area the Flat Iron is beautiful but it isnt the first death.
I've heard about it, but I've never been.
Not even a week after we got married. A father and his two kids while piloting a small plane at night Crashed into it. I could see the flames on the mountain from my house. Live near it too.
Whats funny is we didnt have a ton of money for a wedding. Venues can be fucking expensive. Checked out the state park at the base. $300 and we had a whole area to ourselves for the day. Including a Ramada and fire pit.
The Supes are cool. Put up a few first ascents on the rock formations westerly and above the Peralta Trail with friends back in the day in an area we called Lunar Land. Really had to button up your food stuffs or the the ringtail cats would rob you big time. Weavers Needle is a sketchy ass run out climb, but the views are worth it. I remember when the poppies would bloom gloriously up the western slope above AJ. It’s a shame they let all that housing creep up that slope.
A buddy of mine used to live in Mesa and they'd go horseback riding out there all the time. He'd send pictures that were amazing to look at.
