They had to make some excuse as to why information about O'keefe raid was leaked to NYT.

Not simple information was leaked. It was Attorney Client protected confidential information between O'Keefe and his lawyer. Criminal negligence on the part of the FBI.

/pol/ earlier today was speculating that the FBI would use this as an excuse to dump all of their dirt against it's enemies (us). "It was just a leak bro".
