Not really, it was supposed to be the day the dead souls walked the earth, and you needed to keep a fire and things to drive them away. It was also the end of harvest and the beginning of the winter months. (Not Winter like we define it, but the non-growing season part of the year.)
Although, these days, being rent to shreds by departed souls is almost preferable to what's going on these days.

Yes, I've been having those werewolf dreams again where I run the land under the moonlight, ripping people and animals to shreds.
