Electric. Most consumer grade lawn equipment will be electric and very soon. Briggs and Straton are even getting into the game rather aggressively.

I switched to electric when I had my house. It actually was a lot more convenient than dealing with an engine. For commercial applications I'm sure lack of power supply was always a limiting factor, however with the advancements in batteries that may no longer be such an issue.

There are supposedly a decent line of commercial mowers, even zero turn, that are good. A landscaping guy in my neighborhood uses them almost exclusively.
