I'm willing to go on a limb and say that this is plausible. Unless the spinal cord is severed at the cervical vertebrae you will have synapses firing, triggering autonomous function of the nervous system. I would've preferred that he felt every bullet fired into non-vital areas like an Arabian rapist, but he is dead and recieving eternal justice.
