So you say steam is fully supported by Linux? What about it's version of Microkike Office? Is it just OpenOffice?

I might give Linux a try, windows is getting worse and worse anyway.

Linux Mint has a very similar interface to Windows 7 and is considered by just about everyone to be the best distro for beginners.
