How is it possible to not know how those work these days? They have been around for decades. I figured out it was a magnet when I was in grade school just watching the checkout person.
Well, when I interacted with said security devices, I had a lot of niggers and white trash crack heads who would go pull fridge decorations magnets and attempt it. So I'm sure a lot of people know about the magnet part, but neodymium part isn't as widely known.
I guess that makes sense. One of the shops that my parents went to didn't have one of the fancy "counter mounted" ones. Just a big fucking magnet the checkout person would hold up to it.
We had both. I HATED working where I did because I'm have to go grab this brick thing to shore up the product. It didn't matter anyway, because the city/state I worked in didn't stop or prosecute shoplifters, so they'd just walk out with the shit regardless and deal with the anti theft devices somewhere else.
