Accusations of guilt or innocence are positive claims that have a burden of proof. A "not guilty" verdict does not prove the defendant "innocent", nor does the defense have an obligation to prove innocence. They merely have to mitigate the accusations of guilt. Theism claims a god exist. Atheism doesn't accept the claim. This is the only position that atheism takes on anything. Making a claim that no gods exist is as impossible to prove as any other negative claim. There could be a god. I just don't have enough evidence to solidly believe in one.
