I don’t understand the point of making fun of people who turn to selflessness instead conspicuous materialism. Philosophies are misinterpreted. Buddhist teachings couldn’t be read in a lifetime nor could someone with a limited understanding of them be in a position to judge. You’re right in that it’s been hijacked by evil forces to manipulate people. It’s all very frustrating.
