So just like an EV that takes more hydrocarbon to build than it’ll ever save.

I half fact checked the steel requirement just out of curiosity and this meme seems fairly accurate. I would have never guessed just how massive they actually are.

Have you never seen one up close?

[–] 0 pt

I have, but when you're talking 500k lbs I don't really have anything to compare that number to. It just seems impossibly huge.

When people get killed off the windmill will just sit there generating power.

Other power plants will need to be decomissioned. Nuclear in particular is a dangerous thing because without people it melts down.

In a world where the main goal of the oligarchs is depopulation there will always be policies and decisions that seem very illogical to those not familiar with the grand plan.

How long do you think one of those can go on without maintenance?

The windmill or the nuke?

The windmill does not need to go on long, it just needs to fail safely.

The nuke will go off within 2 years.

It never fails "safely". Those fuckers, flame fire then throw the fire blade onto the weeds below. The flames, fueled by wind, attempt to burn the rest of everything down.

They barely last 10 years. This is fact. And on top of that they are only rated for 20 years. They will never make it to 20 years because the government will give them grants to rebuild or repair every ten years. It's no secret. It's already happening.

Other power plants will need to be decommissioned.

Why? I'm not picking up on any actual logic here...

Nuclear in particular is a dangerous thing because without people it melts down.

No. Nuclear is safe and very clean. And if all the humans die who cares if it melts down. Derp. We need more nuclear power. More hydroelectric power. More coal power. Less solar power. Less wind power. The latter two are inefficient both in terms of cost and energy production.

And if all the humans die who cares

Not all, 90%. The other 10% don't want the radiation.

Why?

Hard to clean up mess.
