While I do like the inch and foot as both more practical measurement, just because they are more “human” sized, the rest of imperial is fucking garbage.

How many feet in a mile? How many yards in a mile? What’s a fluid ounce? How many fluid ounces in a gallon? How many gallons in a square foot? How many pounds in a ton?

It’s ridiculous, it makes the math pointlessly difficult. Pro-tip: the military, engineers, tech and every scientist in the entire world uses metric, including in the USA.

You sound like you need a gallon of imperial pee in your butt

If you put 3.78L of imperial pee in my butt I would explode.

I’m in or near that field; I’m with you on this one.

No one can answer those questions apparently lol

Am engineer also. Life is easier when metric is used though.

Metric can’t be spilt into quarters or thirds easily, which is the reason we abandoned that shit and never looked back.

.....what? 1/4 of a km is 250 m. 1/4 of a liter is 250 ml. 1/3 of a meter is 33.3 cm.

This isn't difficult.

10, which is the basis for the whole metric system cannot be divided by four or three evenly. Yes, sometimes it can be when you’re talking about certain numbers. But especially on a level that people use in their daily lives i.e grams/kilograms/meters/centimeters/liquid volume measurements you have to use silly decimals and hard math to get everything done.

And you truncated 1/3 of a meter. It’s 33.3333333333333… for infinity

We already use units of 10 in our daily life. What's 1 dollar? 100 cents. What's a meter? 100 centimeters? We use decimal point already. If our society is tripped up by a decimal point then we're doomed.

I'd rather use metric where we can use 26 mm for 2.6 cm compared to a feet where I have to use 1 & 5/64 inches.

I already demonstrated how you can divide by 4. Drop down to the next level (kilometer to a meter or decameter). But I could use the same logic to say divide 13 inches by 3. You'll need to truncate it on a ruler as well.

not knowing an approximation of both

2.54 cm / inch 454 grams / pound 2.204 lbs / kg

Though only the top and bottom are of any use. Nobody cares about grams / pound except niggers.

Yeah, I was in Fire Direction Control for the artillery during my service in the US Marines. Since we used metric, we could direct fire missions for any NATO artillery unit as well as our own.

I worked overseas for 15 years. When I returned to the US I put "fluent in metric" on my resume.
