It is obviously all about making someone feel guilty about eating pets but the reality is that rabbit is food. It is pretty easy to raise rabbits for food since they multiply so fast. I have never had rabbit myself but I have read that there is so little fat that you have to be careful not to eat just that.

You can actually starve to death eating just rabbit. You're body needs fat.

People say horse is very tasty. I've never tried it but you can get it in certain places in Canada.

I know a few country folks that raise and eat their own rabbits. If you don't mind killing and cleaning them yourself it is a good way to get cheap meat. I think they taste pretty good.

Correct, but rabbits may be more common as pets outside of rural areas. Even in rural areas, horses are seen more as a mode of transportation than companion.

I remember my first trip to the south of France where I tried Pot-au-feu de cheval. Yuck. Horse meat is not something I find enjoyable at all.

There should only be one cat and one dog, but that would expose how most animals are considered food. Big game is missing. Game birds are missing. Where are the fish and crustaceans? I guess those animals don't count. Squid is more intelligent than cats and dogs but not cute enough to escape the platter. It's all popularity contest.
