I don't understand the TSA guidelines on who they hand search. I know some elders have medical stuff that shouldn't be scanned (like some heart pacemaker). About a month or more ago I observed an elder announce wearing a medical thing, and one TSA agent said to not go thru the scanner and try going through the waist-high metal bar gate next to it and see if elder can get through TSA that way. THEN the elder obeyed and went that way and was standing there waiting for whatever further instructions from other TSA agents in that area, nothing happened for at least a minute, then elder just continued past the TSA people and picked up the x-rayed suitcases and left.
