It's like what Hitler said about lying so big that normies can comprehend it. There's also the refusal to believe they're in an evil world. They want to be smiley and happy, not fearful and sad. Believing that we're subject to a bunch of monsters and greedy crooks isn't a happy way to be, so we'll just reject that belief no matter how much evidence there is supporting it.
