That's not a valid comparison. If they want to play that game, they should rate their speed per person in the whole country against the US. They could possibly still win, but I doubt it. Anywhere you have a high density of population, you're going to find better infrastructure than in portions of the country with low population density.

Yes, the internet sucks as far as speed goes. Where I live, I can buy 2 Gigabit speed, but I don't need that. I pay for only 200 megabits because that's the minimum I can buy. 5 megabits is good enough as long as they can actually deliver consistent performance.

If we really want fiber everywhere we should do like ND and allocate money to it from the state budget for the state to develop it as a utility. Pretty much every town, even ones of 100 ish people, have 1Gbps fiber there, and that's why.

Gay ass commie kikes like Jewnie Sanduhs just want to pocket kickbacks for fiber-to-nowhere federal slush fund projects.

Now that you mention it I don't think I've ever been anywhere in North Dakota that didn't have fast internet. Also Midco is pretty cool for an internet company

This is what you get with corporate feudalism.

All your points are valid, but for me, the meme is more about how the higher degree of freedom a country has, the better it is for commerce.

In addition we should compare how long Romania has had internet, compared to North America, and the square footage of service area.

I've had internet for more than 23 years. And had bbs access before that. Am I expected to believe Romania, or any eastern bloc country had the same?
