If we really want fiber everywhere we should do like ND and allocate money to it from the state budget for the state to develop it as a utility. Pretty much every town, even ones of 100 ish people, have 1Gbps fiber there, and that's why.
Now that you mention it I don't think I've ever been anywhere in North Dakota that didn't have fast internet. Also Midco is pretty cool for an internet company
