Care to share a bit about that? I know someone who is young and thinks he has ADHD and is considering treatment, I would like to try to keep him away from it.
What I know is that the drugs for ADHD cause brain damage and become a permanent need. I took them for about 2 years before I found out. On them is great, but it's basically meth.
There are a lot of coping strategies. 45 min of hard exercise per day, meditation/prayer, and diet (no processed carbs) helps a lot. Having a place for everything. But also remembering that they will forget rote actions and then think they lost their wallet when it's sitting on the shelf as it should.
Consistency is key. If they can get someone to babysit them, all the better. If they are alone... oof.
Thanks for sharing, that does describe his situation and some stuff I tried to get him to do. I guess getting him to research the meds to see all the side effects might put him off.
Have him try some of the nootropic compounds. They help with focus for a few hours with out the addiction.
on the other stuff is true. Exercise is probably one of the big things for adhd people and minimalism .
Like or hate him, If you can find Stefan Molyneux's take on it. But basically all the drugs for it are stimulants and are really bad.
Also if you know a gal friday willing to remind me to put on pants.
Oh. Hyperfocus. So occasionally they will just get stuck on something. My worst time I was found by a friend furiously cleaning my house naked. Because I forgot to put clothes on.
With Hyperfocus people won't understand why you can't just focus on other things. Because ADHD is Attention Dysregulation. You really can't control what you focus on.
