I can tell you that the wiry, average height guys last a lot longer than the huge guys. However, the days are really gone where you need to hard hoof it for a week or two straight. You really need to be able to go a few days and even big dudes can reach that point.
If you have to lead 1000 men, you don't want them all 6 foot 6 with huge calorie requirements, less endurance and less able to fit in tight places.
But... let me tell you... the worst thing is trying to teach them niggers to swim. Size doesn't seem to be a factor. Buoyancy due to different muscle density also makes them useless as underwater soldiers.
Also, there are height restrictions on piloting a variety of aircraft.
