More and more people use audiobooks or podcasts. I enjoy audiobooks but nothing compares to a real paper book in your hand. I just bought a book from 1895 that was some school kid's English classic "Silas Mariner" (the kid wrote her name in pencil '08-09).
Now kids read about how to perform home abortions and fellate their friends.
