"At least I got chicken." - Leroy Jenkins
They are condemned for this very reason: pride and hubris. They believe they can "fool" a deity with strings, tortured animals, and golems.
I'm okay with this. Just let them go on believing it until the final bill comes due.
Jew (standing at the gates of heaven): "So, we're all good right? I transferred my sins onto a souless animal every year and killed it, so I get in, right?
St. Peter: "Uh... yeah. About that... See... I've got about 86 pissed-off chickens here that have been waiting around just for you and would like to discuss the matter first."
(On a side note, how many chickens could the average jew beat in a fight.?)
Finagling at every turn. Imagine having a god you believe you can fool.
How about allowing followers to be fooled by their wives to give blessings to the wrong kid or being tricked by Satan to allow his most devoted to have his entire family wiped out, lose everything and get biblical Monkey Pox? Your guy's god is a jackass.
