Had an '88 Hilux on the farm. That thing was indestructible, but it's destruction was attempted several times. The drivers side floor was rusted out and you could put your foot through the floor, the drivers seat was totally fucked, from getting in and out thousands of times. It was replaced with a stack of hessian sacks. The original tray was rusted out and replaced with a tougher manufactured steel tray. It wouldn't die though. The closest it came to was when a farm hand (we called him lightning, because he was so mentally quick) decided to check the diff oil level, but didn't put the plug back in. So, he ran the diff dry until it melted the pinion bearings to the point that the roller cages had been squished into blue foil. We had to drag it back to the house with a loader. I fixed up the diff and it was fine again.
