This comic reads as a regulation nightmare, to me.
To get here without regulations would require stuff that is not possible because of the corruption of humans. Contrary to popular belief, job-caused cancers, child labor, and no safety in the work place resulted in a shitload of deaths before we had them. The market simply will not self correct when it comes to these things. It will self correct on some things but not all things. Maybe not even most things. However, we've gone way too far, today, with regulations. We went from no-nonsense regulations like no more child labor to regulating whether or not you can have a basement entrance 3 feet away from a counter top (this is in OSHA, not even kidding) because some asshat wasn't watching where he/she was walking and fell down some stairs.
Population reduction is the answer
We make more than enough food, energy, etc.
Population is not the problem. Corruption, opulence, and food distribution is the problem.
