Pretty simple...with a dearth of viable options, good enough seems better than nothing. Trump has proven himself incapable or unwilling to outmaneuver Pelosi, or pick an entourage not packed full of backstabbers. Alternatives are few. Frankly the most capable has the least chance of getting the opportunity (Ron Paul).
