Fast forward a few months ..... good luck finding a van for sale.
45k? I guess for a low end one.
So true.
Most people dont have cars they actually own.
In our society nobody owns anything, because whenever they wish, government can take it all away from us.
Basically true today.
You've got a river? Lucky bastard.
I sure do.
If it's like the east coast then it was a drunk spic swimming at night.....that couldn't swim.
45k will get you a used van with 200k on it with some engine trouble. That a home on wheels. Funny thing is all that cash and your house ends up at the dealer with a busted whatever on backorder for 6 weeks and either your in a hotel or staying at your parents house at the age of 35 living the lies, i mean dreams social media sold you. you can thank the boho hipsters for this fuckery. And also the sender Bros and Betty's. A brand new built out van is north of 120k now and unreachable for most. I suppose you could build it out yourself for 60 to 80k.
We bought and outfitted a van for potential homelessness in the next few years. We've taken it out on trips and met plenty of Van Lifers. Your scenario isn't one that plays out often enough to be concerned about.
Sure not everyone will be stranded, but inconvenience will happen. Im stuck waiting for parts for my van. This time it was only 4 days. but 2 years ago it was 25 days. Lucky for me i could drive but i know road folks who've had to fly or take a bus to a relatives house and wait it out. I did actually have a buddy who got marooned in mexico city for 2 months waiting on a part for his vw bus. But anyway, glad your experience so far has been pleasant.
