The reason why they had 'the best' of everything is because theirs was the wealthiest generation, they had time and money to squander and become spoiled, to gripe about everything at leisure. Any generation would have become that way, you're no different. Affluence makes for whiny soft people. Sounds like you've been around some particularly nasty older people, I'm certainly not like that, but then I grew up poor so that was a factor.
